Felix Dickinson @ People Must Jam - October 6th 2012
After two rammed events with Frank Booker and Leo Zero, we have hop, skipped and boogied to an all new inner city space to bring you our October party - with Felix Dickinson of Cynic records out of the U.K.
A prodigious remixer and re-editer, Felix also works under a multitude of pseudonyms and a quick search of most discerning jocks record bags will most likely uncover a few of his tunes.
He has been DJing and producing music for nearly 20 years, and early in his career organized a four-day free festival in Sussex in collaborating with the D.I.Y. sound system and his fellow DJs from the Tonka crew. The Police roadblocks and helicopters couldn't stop the party, as it was pre-Criminal Justice Act, and 4.000 people danced all weekend.
Following a move to Brighton, Felix and mates set up the monthly Slack nights, which although being held on Monday nights would regularly attract party goers from up and down the country, and would always be followed by an after party down on the beach or some local warehouse.
When Slack ended it allowed Felix to change direction, and he set up the Ugly Music record label which released music from K-Alexi, Underground Evolution, DJ Harvey and Jaime Read, among others. Around this time Felix began his DJ residency at the Joint nightclub with Jaime Read (L.H.A.S) and Bobby Coulman (Soft Rocks) where he played every month from 1995 to 2000.
Since his move to London from the South Coast in 2000, Felix has been producing records under a string of aliases including LHAS Inc., Foolish and Sly, Das Etwas, The Mythical Beasts and Dedication.
He's remixed for labels like Jazzy Sport, Far Out, DJ History, Strut and DFA as well as pulling together essential re-edits and re-mixes for Horse Meat Disco crew. He was also asked to compile Volume 5 of the highly revered “Originals” comps on Claremont 56, which displayed some deep digging skills and a love of obscure disco and Chicago house.
His DJing has taken him as far as America, Japan, Australia, Hawaii and beyond as well as playing at Glastonbury with the New York Downlow. Now he is also resident for Bad Passion, one of the freshest underground parties in London.
Join us on 6th October, 10 til late at an all new space for an extended set of disco, boogie, balearic and all points in between from Felix, with supports from Matt Trousdale, Pete Dot and JMS.
As always the party is B.Y.O and strictly limited capacity. Venue details to be released to ticket holders and our mailing list the week of the party. Hit up peoplemustjam@gmail.com to be part of the action.
Tickets are $25 and available from Resident Advisor as of now, expect to pay more on the door if not sold out.
See you in a few weeks on the dance floor.

People Must Jam presents Leo Zero (Popular People's Front/A Mountain of One/Leo Trax - UK) Saturday 25th August 2012
After our roadblocked June party with Frank Booker, People Must Jam proudly bring you Leo Zero from the UK, in his debut and only Australian show.
Leo has been involved with the underground music scene for almost 20 years, and as co promoter of London’s legendary Soulsonic treated a clued up crowd to an eclectic mix of Balearic / House and Disco classics for over ten successful years.
He’s also been no slouch in the studio either, with big remixes for Florence & The Machine, Bryan Ferry, Paul Welller and last but not least Madonna. He also founded one of the first UK edit labels Easter Bay, which counted DJ Harvey and Idjut Boys as fans.
As a producer he formed psychedelic band A Mountain of One in 2007, and he’s also recorded several EPs with Chris Duckenfield as Popular People's Front.
In 2010 he released the compilation, ‘Disconnect’ on Strut Records and in 2012 released his first artist album ‘Acid Life’, which saw Leo go back to his House and Techno roots to rave reviews.
Leo’s talent hasn’t ever been confined to music either. He’s been involved in flyer/sleeve art for most of his life and provided designs for Junior Boys Own, Heavenly Records, Electric Stew, Dazed & Confused and Time Out, you can check out his great designs and more over at www.leozero.com.
Expect an extended, eclectic set from Leo, with support from residents Pete Dot, Matt Trousdale and JMS.
Again this event will be held in a great warehouse space, with full facilities provided to keep your drinks chilled on the night so remember to BYO. This is Leo’s only Oz show this tour, so don't miss out.
Tickets are $20 and are available now via residentadvisor.net, or $30 on the door. As our past parties have sold out, we would recommend grabbing one whilst you can.
Final venue details will be emailed to ticket holders and our mailing list the week of the party.
To get added to the list drop us a line to peoplemustjam@gmail.com and we will keep you in the loop.

People Must Jam return with our first party of 2012, and we are very happy to have our favourite guest from across the ditch, Mr "Hit It and Quit It" Frank Booker, playing an extended set at a fabulous inner city warehouse space.
Frank as a DJ is as solid as you can get, playing across genres from quality deep house, detroit influenced techno and classic underground disco. As those who attended the last party with him would attest, Frank can put together a mean set!

Their night has featured guests including Moodymann, Dam Funk, Kon and Amir, Trusme and others. The pair also present the now cult "Hit it and Quit it" radio show on a Monday night in Auckland on George FM.

With upcoming releases and remixes slated on Delusions of Grandeur, Kolour Recordings and Sleazy Beats, Frank will be joining the likes of Jimpster, Tornado Wallace, Linkwood, Session Victim, 6th Borough Project and Eddie C on three of the most consistent deep house labels of recent times.
On the night, Frank will be joined by People Must Jam residents Pete Dot, JMS and Matt Trousdale.
The event will be held in a great inner city warehouse space, with full facilities provided to keep your drinks chilled on the night so BYO.
