People Must Jam Turn Five!!! Saturday 12th October with Frank Booker
It's been a while between drinks, but we return on October 12th with a rather special event as we celebrate our fifth birthday and first release on wax!
It seems like only yesterday that we had our crazy little idea of bringing out the Djs we really wanted to see (rather than the latest "hype" acts!) and getting them to play extended sets in intimate spaces, for a bunch of like-minded music fans. Over the last few years we've been fortunate enough to have debuted the likes of Al Kent, Rahaan, Mark Seven, Leo Zero, Julien Love, Sueno Martino and more in Sydney.
So who do we get to help blow out the candles for us? None other than PMJ regular and party starter, New Zealand's Frank Booker - who absolutely smashed it at our sold out event in 2012 and once again will be bringing an extended set of deep house and chunky funk. Alongside his good mate Recloose, Frank has co promoted and co hosted Aucklands legendary "Hit It and Quit It" radio show and associated club night for the past tens years, with the night hosting big guns like Moodymann, Kon and Amir and Dam Funk. Frank has also released tracks on a plethora of labels including Kat Records, Razor 'N' Tape, Kolour Ltd and Sleazy Beats.
This brings us nicely to the launch of People Must Jam’s record label. We're very proud to launch our first release, "Floor Jammers Volume 1" which features a killer cut from Frank himself. Limited copies will be available on the night or alternatively grab one nearer the event from Juno, Piccadilly or Phonica. The record features four cuts from previous People Must Jam guests Frank Booker, Felix Dickinson, Al Kent and mysterious NSW countrymen Out In The Sticks.
Frank will be joined on the decks by our very own birthday boys Matt Trousdale, Pete Dot and JMS.
The party goes down in our favourite inner city warehouse space and is BYO. We'll be kicking off at 10pm and going til late. Venue details will be emailed to ticket holders and our mailing list the week of the party.
Limited first release tickets are $25 and you can get them if you click in the top right of the page.
See you all under the mirrorball in a few weeks time!
